A virtual team of Spanish and Italian biologists needed to structure messages and present reports in a way their US colleagues could understand quickly and easily. There had been complaints. The scientists worked on field trials on pesticides in rural areas and needed to produce reports (in English) which could be circulated in the global organisation.
During the workshop in Madrid, participants discussed and rewrote prepared samples, working with the coach to share feedback to produce a model for best practice. Every aspect of report writing was covered, including structure, layout, language, style and punctuation.
Feedback from the US was uniformly positive. Reports were now clearer, more concise and key data easier to access. The success led to follow-up work in France, Germany, Greece and Italy.
